Dedicated to Greg
I have a few thoughts about President Elect Barack Obama.
Politics aside...
I think it is awesome to have a black President. I was very moved watching the emotions on the faces of the people in the crowd during his victory speech. What an incredibly huge day for blacks and all of America.
I think he is an exceptional speaker.
I am eager to learn more about how he became the man he is.
I think it is a heart wrenching twist that the grandmother who helped raise him passed away 48 hours prior to seeing him become president.
I will be praying for him.

It really does say something about how far our country has come in just a few decades. That is the bright side...
The next few years should be really interesting. I thought it was facinating the amount of people there in Chicago. If nothing else, he has sparked some enthusiasm into our country.
Question - what tracker do you use for your blog?
Well said Laura. What is, is...So lets all pray hard and hope that he can do all he says he can do and it be for all our best interest.
There are some moments in history that you look back on and wish you were there to witness it. Tuesday night was one of those nights that future generations are going to say "I wish I were alive when the first Black man was elected President of the United States of America."
Check out these lines from Martin Luther King Jr's I Have A Dream Speech - we were witnesses to his dreams coming true!
"And so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.
I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal."
I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.
I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.
I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.
I have a dream today!"
I have a dream that one day, down in Alabama, with its vicious racists, with its governor having his lips dripping with the words of "interposition" and "nullification" -- one day right there in Alabama little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers.
I have a dream today!
I am so happy a we have black president. It means we have come a long way. I just wish it was a Black Republican President.
